April is Stress Awareness Month

Let’s talk about it. 

Why is a whole month dedicated to creating awareness around stress?

It is important to recognize the impact that stress can have on a person mentally, physically, and emotionally. Too often stress is seen as the norm, and its impact is greatly overlooked. We want to encourage breaking down the stigma and authentically seeking support and talking about stress!

Okay… this stress thing might be pretty serious. What do I do now?

Think about it, learn about it, & talk about it! Reflect on your own stress levels and the way that you could see it impacting your wellness. Learn about the impact that stress can have on a person. Then, start the conversation! Whether you have a close social circle, a supportive therapist, or an open journal, begin to organize your thoughts about stress. 

What can help manage stress?

  • Going to therapy
  • Practice self regulating
    • Square breathing (inhale 4s, hold 4s, exhale 4s, hold 4s, repeat)
    • 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
    • Progressive muscle relaxation
    • Yoga/Meditation
  • Getting good sleep
  • Nourishing your body
  • Exercising
