Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

If you’re doing in-person counseling, here is our office address:

1990 Wisconsin Avenue Grafton, WI 53024

And if you’re in Wisconsin, we can do online therapy… so we’ll meet wherever you are!

With whom do you work?

We work with individuals, couples, families, children, teens, and groups on various issues. Some of those issues are trauma, anxiety, depression, confidence, peer relationships, life transitions, stress, grief, conflict, anger management, bipolar disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Do you offer a free consultation?

Yes, we offer a free 10-minute (either by phone or online if you want to try it) consultation to discuss our services.

During the consultation, we’ll get a sense of your needs and answer any questions you may have about therapy. We can discuss setting up our ongoing appointments if we decide to work together.

What are your fees?

Our weekly therapy fee is comparable to those of other therapists in the area. Sessions are generally weekly, but they can be biweekly in some cases. We also offer short-term transition packages of 6 or 12 sessions.

Individual, child, or couples counseling (50 minutes): $120
Individual, child, or couples counseling (80 minutes): $190
Individual or couples online counseling (50 minutes): $110
Intake assessment (60 minutes): $140

Therapy is an investment in your life, health, relationships, family, and future. We can discuss fees further during our consultation.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash or check is preferred and accepted at the beginning of each therapy session.

Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express are also accepted.

For tax savings, you can also pay using your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) card.

You can use your credit card regularly or as a backup if you forget your therapy payment.

Session fees are paid weekly at the time of your service.

Do you accept insurance?

Many of our clients are private-pay clients and choose not to submit for out-of-network (OON) reimbursement from insurance because it offers them privacy and control over their records.

If you choose to use insurance for counseling reimbursement, we accept Optum/UnitedHealthcare, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, and Humana Tricare, or we can work with you as an OON client.

Many of our clients who use their OON benefits get reimbursed a percentage of the therapy fee. Others use their HSA or FSA to cover the full cost.

We can provide you with a monthly receipt noting what you paid so that you can submit it to your insurance carrier.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require 24 hours’ notice for all cancellations.

You will be charged the session fee if the appointment is not canceled within that time frame.

What is therapy?

Therapy is a unique opportunity to have a trained professional help you think objectively about yourself and your struggles.

A therapist helps you develop coping skills, manage your emotional states, and gain perspective.

There may be ongoing or recent life complications that you need help getting through. We will help you manage how you feel, think, and respond to life’s difficulties.

What is the benefit of online therapy?

It can be difficult to find a therapist you like who’s also nearby AND has the availability you need. Others are in situations where it is difficult to leave the house.

Online therapy helps take away some of the barriers to getting the help you need. The sessions are secure, confidential, and HIPAA-compliant. This ensures you get the same safe space as you would if you were in our office… but from the comfort of your own home.

How is therapy different from talking to friends and family?

Therapy offers an opportunity to discuss issues and concerns with an objective third party – someone who can give you an “outsider’s perspective” on situations.

Talking with friends and family are wonderful supports to have in place. However, they can sometimes come with unsolicited advice and judgment, further complicate relationships, or leave you feeling unheard or misunderstood.

Therapy offers a safe space to explore feelings, thoughts, and experiences. You are also presented with an opportunity for a professional to help you navigate situations and allow you to apply tools to manage emotions that may arise as a result.
